1. The short version
1.1Clerify uses only strictly necessary cookies, and only to authenticate your session and keep it secure. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not allow anyone else to place them on our website or platform.
1.2This policy forms part of our Privacy Policy and applies to the Clerify website at clerify.co.za and to the Clerify client portal.
2. What a cookie is
2.1A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Websites use cookies to remember who you are between page views, to keep you signed in, and to protect your session from misuse.
3. The cookies we use
3.1The cookies and similar storage that we use are listed below. All of them are strictly necessary, which means that the secure portal cannot work without them.
| Purpose | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication | Keeps you signed in to the Clerify portal or recognises your secure intake session after you open a link from your law firm | Until your session ends |
| Security | Protects your session against forged requests and other misuse, and helps us to detect abuse | Until your session ends |
| Your notice choice | Remembers that you have accepted this notice, so that we do not show the banner again. This is saved in your browser’s local storage, not as a cookie. | Until you clear your browser storage |
3.2These cookies are set by Clerify itself (first-party). They contain no advertising identifiers, and we do not use them to track you across other websites.
4. What we do not use
4.1We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, social media tracking pixels, cross-site tracking, behavioural profiling or analytics services that set cookies on your device.
4.2Our public website loads typefaces from Google Fonts. This does not set a cookie, but your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads, as explained in our Privacy Policy. If you follow a link to an external site such as LinkedIn, WhatsApp or ITWeb, that site’s own cookie and privacy practices apply.
5. Your choices
5.1Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, we do not ask for your consent to set them, but we tell you about them so that you can make an informed choice about using the portal. By selecting “Accept” you confirm that you have read this notice and our Privacy Policy.
5.2You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, you will not be able to sign in to the portal or complete a secure intake form. You can clear the saved notice choice at any time by clearing your browser’s site data, and the banner will appear again.
6. Changes and contact
6.1If we ever change the kinds of cookies that we use, we will update this page, change the date at the top, and ask for your consent first where the law requires it.
6.2Questions about this policy can be sent to our Information Officer, Anga Ngcebetsha, at anga@forteintake.com.
